Are the AD locks in our buildings still the right thing to buy?

That is settled by review, not assumption. Where does CTE fit compared with the locks?

The opening therefore gets a reader and a separate controller rather than an integrated lock, which suits an exterior or shared entry where the hardware on the leaf is already set. Reader and lock credentials still need verification for the exact model.

We run LenelS2 today. Will this hardware report into it?

LenelS2, Avigilon, Honeywell and other supported PACS interfaces are listed for this family, so the platform is a supported direction rather than a guess. The catch is specificity: reader and lock credentials, gateway range, Wi-Fi/RS-485, firmware and PACS licensing require model-specific verification, so the interface is confirmed for your exact panel version and license before it enters the scope.

What is no-tour communication worth to us?

It is worth whatever a delay in revoking a credential costs you. Gateway, Wi-Fi, RS-485 and no-tour communication is one decision, not four: it describes how credential updates reach the lock. Openings where a revoked badge must stop working quickly need a live path, while others can accept a scheduled update. Decide that opening by opening.

Does every wireless lock need a gateway close by?

Each wireless lock has to sit inside a gateway’s coverage, and gateway range is one of the items requiring model-specific verification, so it is not taken from a single published figure. Lock locations are mapped against candidate gateway positions during the survey, with the construction between them noted, before gateway and lock counts are fixed.

Half of these are fire-rated doors. Does that limit the hardware?

Yes, and the constraint is checked before selection rather than after. Fire rating, egress, accessibility and code constraints govern what may go on a rated assembly, together with opening type, handing, frame and door condition. Fail-safe or fail-secure operation and emergency release is decided per opening as well, since a rated door and its release behavior are reviewed together.
