Site-specific design
Boston High Tech inventories existing equipment and validates current manufacturer compatibility before specifying reuse, migration or replacement. Qualifications may be confirmed privately when needed; license numbers, certificate copies and named certificate-holder details are not published.

How to compare and specify this product family
For IDenticard Badging, Card Printers and Visitor Management, the right model and architecture depend on the site, existing infrastructure and operating policy. A proposal should clearly document the following access-control system decisions before equipment is ordered:
- Number and type of controlled openings
- Controller, reader, lock and credential compatibility
- Cloud or on-premise administration and ownership
- Offline behavior, backup power and emergency operation
- Directory, HR, video, visitor and elevator integrations
- Licensing, cybersecurity, training and lifecycle support
Installation, testing and handoff
A site survey records each opening, door hardware, cable path, power, network, credential policy and integration requirement. The design then maps readers, controllers, locks, inputs, outputs and administrator roles to the operational workflow. Commissioning includes door-by-door functional tests, failure-mode and backup-power checks, permission and schedule tests, event verification, administrator training and as-built documentation. Product availability, subscriptions and supported integrations are confirmed for the current project before procurement.
Frequently asked questions
Badge design, printer choice and visitor workflow questions for sites issuing their own credentials with IDenticard equipment.
What does PremiSys ID cover?
PremiSys ID is the badging side of the line: badge design, capture and mobile workflows. Printers, cameras, supplies, proximity and smart cards sit alongside it, and visitor management is a separate group of options that includes PassagePoint and TEMPbadge products. Which pieces you need starts with who issues badges and where that person sits.
Should we buy a direct-to-card printer or a retransfer printer?
Direct-to-card versus retransfer printing is decided by badge durability, encoding and how the badge design is laid out, not by price alone. A badge worn daily on a job site and one that lives in a wallet age differently, and an encoded smart card adds requirements a plain photo ID does not. Quote printer, camera, supplies and card stock together.
What sits on the badging desk on day one?
A printer, a camera, card stock and consumables, with network and power at the desk where badges are issued. Where proximity/smart card encoding is part of the workflow, blank cards are kept under inventory control, so agree who holds the cabinet key, who reconciles counts and how spoiled cards are destroyed before the first badge is printed.
What do we do about visitors when the badging station is down?
Write the manual fallback before you need it. Network, power, standby battery and outage behavior are recorded for the badging station, and the visitor procedure states what the lobby does while badges cannot be printed: a written log, a host escort rule, and reissue once the station is back. Agree that rule with reception, not only with IT.
Will a badge we print open the doors?
Only if the encoding matches what your access-control system expects, which is why encoding and integration to access control are selected with the printer rather than after it. Confirm the card format your readers already accept, then match card stock and encoder settings to it. Current licenses, subscriptions, firmware and integrations are checked before ordering.
How much visitor information should we keep?
That call belongs to you, since database fields, privacy and watch-list policy are customer decisions rather than product settings. Decide which fields are collected at registration, how long records are kept, who may search them, whether host notification is automatic, and how expiring badges are reconciled at the end of the day. Put those answers in the workflow before the software is configured.
