Why does a design need both an intelligent controller and downstream modules?
They do different jobs. LNL-X series intelligent controllers are the panels sized for offline decision capacity and for the connection back to OnGuard, while downstream reader and interface modules are what get sized for doors, elevators, alarm inputs and outputs. Counting doors alone undersizes the design, since alarm points and elevator interfaces consume module capacity too.
Do BlueDiamond readers mean we have to go all-mobile?
No. BlueDiamond mobile-ready reader choices leave room for smart-card technologies alongside phones, and a site can run both while people transition. Either way the same homework applies: a documented key, format and migration strategy, plus an enrollment process stating who issues a mobile credential and how it is revoked when someone leaves.
What has to be settled before we order credentials?
A documented key, format and migration strategy, agreed in writing. BlueDiamond readers, mobile credentials and smart-card technologies all rest on that strategy, and the proposal treats DESFire/smart credentials, mobile credentials and enrollment as one decision area rather than three separate ones. Settle who holds the keys, which formats will be issued, and how the outgoing format is carried through the changeover.
Can we get OSDP on the panels we already own?
That depends on the controller generation and firmware in those panels, which is why both are confirmed along with OSDP, enclosure, power and offline decision capacity rather than assumed. What power and enclosure work does this involve?

Can we replace this in phases instead of all at once?
