For Honeywell MAXPRO Access and MPA Controllers, the right model and architecture depend on the site, existing infrastructure and operating policy. A proposal should clearly document the following access-control system decisions before equipment is ordered:

Do we have to put this in the cloud?
No. Honeywell positions MPA controllers for MAXPRO Cloud and for web or on-premise management, so hosting is a decision you make with your IT group. That decision changes who owns administration, backups and updates, whether a subscription and support agreement belongs in the price, and how remote access to the management software is protected.
We run NetAXS panels today. Does all of it have to come out at once?
Not necessarily. NetAXS coexistence is one of the items the design addresses, so existing panels, loop wiring, readers and door hardware are inventoried before reuse, migration or replacement is specified. What can stay depends on the loop topology the new controllers require and on controller firmware, both of which are confirmed against Honeywell’s current documentation before procurement.
What has to be in place at the panel location itself?
MPA controllers need a network path, adequate power and a standby battery sized to the outage behavior the site requires, in an enclosure with room for the loop and expansion the door schedule implies. Write down before ordering which doors must keep reading credentials during an outage, which release on the fire-alarm interface, and how long that condition has to hold.
Can we see camera video next to the access events?
Video integration is listed as a requirement to confirm for the project rather than a feature to assume, so name the video, intrusion and identity systems during design and confirm each one against the hosted mode and controller firmware you intend to order. An integration available in one management mode does not carry over to another without being checked first.
We have a two-person IT team. What are we taking on after handoff?
Administrator training, backup, documentation and maintenance are recorded as decisions before equipment is ordered, and the hosting choice shapes them: subscription/support requirements and update responsibility sit differently for a hosted deployment than for a server your staff runs. Name the administrators, the backup method and the firmware update path in the proposal so the workload is visible beforehand.
