RemoteLock product guide
RemoteLock Smart Locks, OpenEdge and Connected Hardware

Smart deadbolt, lever and commercial lock options connected through Wi-Fi, Z-Wave/Zigbee gateways or partner integrations.

RemoteLock Smart Locks, OpenEdge and Connected Hardware product overview

Products and selection guidance

RemoteLock-branded and compatible locks differ in door prep, grade, weather rating, credential/PIN capacity, radio, battery, mechanical override and audit behavior. OpenEdge and other older hardware should be checked for current lifecycle/support. Survey every opening and confirm the exact model in the RemoteLock compatibility list.

  • Commercial lever/deadbolt and residential/multifamily formats
  • Wi-Fi versus gateway-based Z-Wave/Zigbee connectivity
  • PIN, mobile, card and mechanical override choices
  • Battery service, turnover and lock-model lifecycle
  • Door, lock, free-egress, accessibility and fire-alarm requirements
  • Network, power, standby battery and outage behavior
  • Current licenses, subscriptions, firmware and integrations
  • Administrator training, backup, documentation and maintenance

Site-specific design

Boston High Tech inventories existing equipment and validates current manufacturer compatibility before specifying reuse, migration or replacement. Qualifications may be confirmed privately when needed; license numbers, certificate copies and named certificate-holder details are not published.

How to compare and specify this product family

For RemoteLock Smart Locks, OpenEdge and Connected Hardware, the right model and architecture depend on the site, existing infrastructure and operating policy. A proposal should clearly document the following electronic lock and door-hardware system decisions before equipment is ordered:

  • Opening type, handing, frame and door condition
  • Fire rating, egress, accessibility and code constraints
  • Fail-safe or fail-secure operation and emergency release
  • Credential, reader and controller compatibility
  • Battery, wireless gateway and offline behavior
  • Mechanical key override, maintenance and lifecycle support

Installation, testing and handoff

Each opening is surveyed as a complete assembly. We verify the door, frame, handing, existing prep, latching, closer, egress hardware, power path and the required emergency behavior before specifying a lock. Installation includes alignment and mechanical correction within scope, cable and power testing, credential enrollment, door-state and request-to-exit tests, and failure-mode verification. The owner receives opening schedules, administrator guidance and maintenance requirements; private credential data and certificate details are not published.

Frequently asked questions

What owners ask before putting RemoteLock and compatible smart locks on commercial, multifamily and turnover-driven openings.

Will these locks fit the doors we have?

Fit is settled opening by opening. RemoteLock-branded and compatible locks differ in door prep, grade, weather rating, credential and PIN capacity, radio, battery, mechanical override and audit behavior, so the survey records opening type, handing, frame and door condition at each door, and the exact model is confirmed in the RemoteLock compatibility list before anything is ordered.

Some of our hardware is OpenEdge. Should it stay in the plan?

Only after the current lifecycle and support status of that hardware is checked, which is why OpenEdge and other older equipment is verified rather than carried forward on assumption. Boston High Tech inventories the installed locks and validates current manufacturer compatibility before specifying reuse, migration or replacement, so the plan states which openings keep their hardware and which get rebuilt.

Wi-Fi locks or a gateway. Which way should a property go?

A Wi-Fi lock joins the network at the door itself, while gateway-based Z-Wave/Zigbee connectivity puts a powered gateway within radio range of the openings it serves and adds that gateway to the parts list. Wireless coverage at each door, how many openings sit in one area, and who maintains the network equipment decide which approach suits the property.

Batteries die. What is the plan for that day?

Battery service is assigned to a named owner before handoff, with a replacement interval on the maintenance schedule instead of a wait for a dead lock. Mechanical override differs by model, so the design records how each opening is operated when its lock has no power, and who holds the key or tool that does it.

Can these locks be managed alongside the rest of our access control?

Only where a current partner integration covers the system you already run, so name that system during design and have the integration verified before it is priced. Connectivity itself is described as Wi-Fi, gateway or partner integrations, and current licenses, subscriptions, firmware and integrations across the installed base are recorded during the same review.

As tenants and staff change, who issues and removes codes?

Name that administrator in the handoff document, along with who trains a replacement. Turnover is one reason credential and PIN capacity, mechanical override and audit behavior get compared during selection: a property with constant changeover needs a lock whose record of use can be reviewed and an administrator with time to keep the code list current.
