How to compare and specify this product family
For Hikvision NVR, HikCentral, Thermal and Integrated Security, the right model and architecture depend on the site, existing infrastructure and operating policy. A proposal should clearly document the following video-surveillance system decisions before equipment is ordered:

Is channel count the only thing that decides which NVR we need?
No. NVR channel/bandwidth/decoding and storage sizing are weighed together, because recorders vary by channel, PoE, incoming bandwidth, decoding, HDD bays, RAID, analytics and failover. A camera count that fits the channels can still exceed the incoming bandwidth when those cameras run high resolution at high frame rates, so the bandwidth math is done before a model is picked.
Our project has procurement restrictions. How does that affect this equipment?
It is verified before quoting rather than assumed. NDAA and customer procurement restrictions are checked against the specific models proposed and against your own purchasing rules, with current support status checked in the same step. Funding source and customer policy drive the outcome, so bring the procurement language to the design meeting and the model list is filtered against it.
Do thermal cameras get laid out like the rest of the camera plan?
No. Thermal, intercom, access and alarm categories require distinct application designs, and HeatPro/thermal and bi-spectrum perimeter applications are laid out around a detection zone rather than around identification at a doorway. Mounting height, aim and the length of the zone being watched are worked out for that perimeter application on its own drawing.
How much storage do we actually need?
Work back from retention. The retention you require, the incoming bandwidth of the cameras and whether RAID is used set the storage, and the HDD bays in the recorder selected have to hold that much. Evidence export belongs in the same calculation, because pulling long clips for an investigation loads the same recorder that is still writing.
We already have recorders. What does HikCentral add?
HikCentral and the client and mobile software add centralized management above the individual recorders, so operators work from one place instead of signing into each unit. Whether that is worth the licensing depends on how many recorders and sites your staff has to reach, and on who needs access from outside the security office. Management and licensing are documented in the proposal alongside the firmware, cybersecurity and user role decisions.
Should intercom, access control and alarms share a platform with the cameras?
They remain separate categories with their own application designs, so treat any connection as scoped work. Video intercom, access control and alarm integration is listed here as its own decision, which means the interfaces, the events that cross between systems and the operator workflow are defined during design. Firmware, cybersecurity, user roles and remote access are settled across all of them together.
