How to compare and specify this product family

For ZKTeco AtlasCloud and Atlas Embedded Access Control, the right model and architecture depend on the site, existing infrastructure and operating policy. A proposal should clearly document the following access-control system decisions before equipment is ordered:

  • Number and type of controlled openings
  • Controller, reader, lock and credential compatibility
  • Cloud or on-premise administration and ownership
  • Offline behavior, backup power and emergency operation
  • Directory, HR, video, visitor and elevator integrations
  • Licensing, cybersecurity, training and lifecycle support

Installation, testing and handoff

A site survey records each opening, door hardware, cable path, power, network, credential policy and integration requirement. The design then maps readers, controllers, locks, inputs, outputs and administrator roles to the operational workflow. Commissioning includes door-by-door functional tests, failure-mode and backup-power checks, permission and schedule tests, event verification, administrator training and as-built documentation. Product availability, subscriptions and supported integrations are confirmed for the current project before procurement.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about choosing between AtlasCloud administration and Atlas embedded web management, and about the panel kits underneath both.

Is AtlasCloud the only way to administer Atlas panels?

No. AtlasCloud provides remote cloud administration, while Atlas panels also exist with embedded web management, administered from the panel itself over the local network. The difference is where administration lives and what it needs: the cloud portal needs a working internet path and its licensing, the embedded application needs network access to the panel.

What does a Bio kit add over a Prox kit?

Fingerprint verification. Atlas Prox versus Bio/fingerprint verification is the first sorting question on this family, and the variants differ in biometric, reader and capacity options rather than in name alone. Choosing Bio also changes what has to happen before go-live, since fingerprints are enrolled per person and the owner needs a written position on holding that data.

How do we decide which kit size to order?

From the opening schedule, not from headcount. Kits come in one, two and four-door configurations, and PoE, Wi-Fi and panel expansion are recorded alongside them so growth is planned rather than discovered. Count doors needing controlled entry, doors needing monitoring only, and any gate or elevator interface, then match that list to kits.

Does the panel need its own power circuit?

The design records how each panel is fed rather than assuming a dedicated circuit. Atlas panel kits come in one-, two- or four-door configurations with PoE and Wi-Fi options, so the network and power approach are settled together. Network, power, standby battery and outage behavior are documented with them, and lock power is sized with the door hardware as its own calculation.

Do the readers on our doors have to be replaced?

Not necessarily, and the deciding factor is protocol. OSDP/Wiegand readers are both in play here, so we record what is mounted at each door, how it is wired, and which credential technology it reads. A reader that stays also has to suit the credential policy going forward, because keeping a reader that only reads weak badges saves less than it appears to.

Our internet is unreliable. What stops working when it drops?

Remote administration does. The AtlasCloud cloud portal and remote management path cannot reach the panel while the link is down, so adding users or pulling reports waits. What happens at the door itself depends on the panel generation and its configuration, which is why outage behavior is documented before purchase and demonstrated during commissioning.
