What is the documented path off NetAXS?
Current MAXPRO Access MPA controllers are the migration target to plan around, and the migration itself should be written down rather than improvised panel by panel. Before that plan can be priced, inventory panel generation, firmware, loop wiring, reader format and the database. The inventory, not the panel count, is what makes a migration estimate real.
Can the migration happen in phases instead of one cutover?
Yes. Phased MPA coexistence and outright controller replacement are both viable, and the panel and firmware inventory is what decides which one suits the site. A phased approach moves the highest-risk panels first while the remainder keep running. Write the phase order and the cutover test for each phase before the first panel is opened.
How much of the existing enclosure, power and wiring survives a migration?
Only what the inventory says survives. Panel addressing, power and enclosure reuse are assessed item by item before a migration is proposed, alongside the loop wiring already in the walls. Treat reuse as a survey finding rather than a budget assumption, because an enclosure that physically fits is not the same as power that suits the new controller.
Our doors have older readers on them. Where do they fit in the MPA plan?
Reader format is inventoried early for exactly this reason, so the answer comes from reading what is on the doors rather than assuming. Where readers are being changed anyway, OmniClass and multi-technology reader choices can support smarter credentials when the host system and its keys are designed correctly. Plan reader replacement and credential migration as one move.
Does the cardholder database carry over to MPA?
Only if database export is scoped as part of the migration, which is why it is assessed during the inventory instead of on cutover night. Panel addressing is reviewed with it, since addresses and records travel together. Decide before the work starts what carries over and what is rebuilt by hand, then name who verifies the list after the first phase.
