Brivo Door Station, Video and Integrations product overview

Product and design guidance

A Brivo design may include Door Station, Brivo video or supported video partners, wireless locks and third-party applications through Brivo’s integration ecosystem. Compatibility is model-, firmware- and subscription-specific. Confirm camera retention, privacy, call routing, facial-authentication policy, lock gateway and API data ownership in writing.

Selection checklist

  • Door Station call, video and entry workflow
  • Brivo video or supported video-platform event association
  • Supported Allegion, ASSA ABLOY, SimonsVoss or Z-Wave lock integrations
  • Open API and business-system integration responsibilities
  • Code-compliant lock, egress and fire-alarm sequence
  • Network, power, battery and outage behavior
  • Licenses, subscriptions, integrations and data ownership
  • Administrator training, documentation and maintenance

How Boston High Tech helps

We survey the doors, existing panels and readers, credentials, network, identity workflow and integrations before finalizing a bill of materials. We may confirm relevant certification privately, but do not publish certificate copies, license numbers or named certificate-holder information.

How to compare and specify this product family

For Brivo Door Station, Video and Integrations, the right model and architecture depend on the site, existing infrastructure and operating policy. A proposal should clearly document the following video-surveillance system decisions before equipment is ordered:

  • Scene purpose and required pixels on target
  • Lens, mounting height, WDR, IR and low-light needs
  • Analytics supported by the selected camera and VMS
  • Bandwidth, PoE and network segmentation
  • Retention, storage throughput and export workflow
  • User roles, cybersecurity, health monitoring and support

Installation, testing and handoff

Design starts with the evidence or operational result required at each scene—not megapixels alone. We document fields of view, identification targets, lighting, camera placement, network load, recording profiles and retention assumptions. Commissioning covers focus, exposure, time synchronization, analytics calibration, user permissions, mobile or remote access, export testing and health alerts. Final documentation records device names, locations, addressing, retention settings and administrator procedures without publishing private credentials.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about pairing Brivo Door Station, video and partner integrations with the doors and systems you already run.

What does a Door Station add at an entrance?

It brings a call, video and entry workflow to the opening, so a visitor at an unstaffed entrance reaches someone who can see the door and release it. The rest is policy rather than hardware: settle in writing where those calls route during business hours and after them, who is expected to answer, and how camera retention and privacy are handled for the entrance.

Do we have to buy Brivo cameras to get video on access events?

No. A design can use Brivo video or supported video partners, and either path associates camera views with entry events. Which cameras qualify is model-, firmware- and subscription-specific, so your existing camera list is checked against current Brivo documentation before anyone counts on a partner platform.

Can Brivo drive wireless locks from other manufacturers?

Brivo lists supported Allegion, ASSA ABLOY, SimonsVoss or Z-Wave lock integrations, so the answer turns on which family your locks belong to and what gateway they need. Each wireless opening also needs that gateway placed within range and powered. Lock gateway responsibility, including who replaces batteries, belongs in the written scope.

Can access events feed our HR or visitor-management system?

Through the open API, yes, and the work is in deciding who builds and maintains that link. Open API and business-system integration responsibilities get assigned in writing: which side owns the code, which side holds credentials for the connection, and who is accountable when a field changes. API data ownership is settled in the same document.

What has to be right at the door before a Door Station goes in?

A code-compliant lock, egress and fire-alarm sequence comes first, then the network and power path to the entrance. Free egress cannot depend on someone answering the intercom, and the fire-alarm interface has to behave the way the authority having jurisdiction expects. Door condition, frame and existing reader wiring are recorded on the same visit.

What do we receive at handover?

Administrator training, documentation and a maintenance schedule, plus written answers on camera retention, privacy, call routing, facial-authentication policy and API data ownership. Those written answers matter later, because they are what an auditor or a tenant asks about, and they are much harder to reconstruct once the system has been running for a year.
